Why Tefencia tutors
I chose tutoring because I love seeing the moment when a student understands something they once found difficult. Language is more than grammar and vocabulary. It is a tool that helps people express their thoughts, share ideas, and build confidence. As an English tutor, I enjoy helping students grow as readers, writers, speakers, and thinkers. Every student learns differently, and tutoring allows me to provide personalized support that helps them reach their goals while making learning enjoyable and meaningful.

I worked with a student who had strong English skills but struggled to apply them effectively on the SAT. They frequently overthought questions and changed correct answers because they lacked confidence in their reasoning.
Instead of focusing solely on content, we worked on test-taking strategies, pattern recognition, and understanding exactly what the SAT was asking. We spent time analyzing answer choices and learning why incorrect options were designed to seem appealing.
As their confidence grew, their scores steadily increased. By the time they took the exam, they had improved their Reading and Writing score by more than 150 points.
The greatest achievement was seeing them trust their own judgment. They learned to approach challenging questions calmly and systematically, which helped them not only on the SAT but in their overall academic work as well.

As someone who loves teaching, I genuinely enjoy activities that involve learning and communication. Reading, creative writing, and public speaking are some of my favorite interests. I also enjoy mentoring aspiring teachers and designing educational content. Outside of work, I like traveling, exploring nature, trying new cuisines, and discovering interesting stories and experiences that I can bring back into the classroom to make learning more relatable and engaging.
