About Jinky

I am a Licensed Professional Teacher and dedicated Math Tutor with a strong passion for making mathematics clear, approachable, and engaging. With formal pedagogical training and hands-on teaching experience, I bridge the gap between abstract mathematical theories and real-world understanding, helping students build both confidence and competence in numbers.

Why Jinky tutors

My journey into teaching started with a simple realization: so many students don't actually hate math, they just hate feeling confused by it. Early in my career, I saw how easily a learner could lose confidence simply because a concept wasn't explained in a way that resonated with their learning style. Earning my professional teaching license gave me the pedagogical framework, but stepping into one-on-one and small-group tutoring showed me the real magic of personal connection in education. Why I Love It

Tutoring allows me to meet students exactly where they are. Unlike a standard classroom setting where the pace is rigid, tutoring gives me the space to slow down, break complex theories into intuitive steps, and find the exact "aha!" moment for every learner. There is nothing quite like watching a student transform from feeling overwhelmed by numbers to realizing, "I can actually do this."

A student Jinky helped

An Achievement I Am Proud Of One of my proudest achievements as an educator is consistently guiding students from a mindset of "I can't do math" to "I figured it out!"

A stand-out moment involved working with a student who had developed deep anxiety around fractions and multi-step word problems, often shutting down whenever faced with complex questions. By breaking down the concepts into concrete, relatable visual examples and introducing structured problem-solving strategies, we worked step-by-step through the difficulty. Within a few months, not only did the student's grades improve significantly, but they began approaching new, unfamiliar math challenges with genuine curiosity and independence rather than fear. Seeing that shift in self-belief is the most rewarding part of my teaching career.

Outside tutoring

Having that balance outside of teaching keeps the energy high, the mind fresh, and the passion for helping others alive! I am also spending time my kids and help them with their homework when I am not teaching.

Specializations

  • Dyscalculia and math difficultiesWorks with students who struggle with number sense and arithmetic.
  • ADHD and attention difficultiesKeeps a session workable for a student who cannot hold focus through one.
  • Dyslexia and reading difficultiesWorks with students who decode slowly or avoid reading aloud.
  • Autistic studentsAdapts pace, structure and sensory load, and keeps a session predictable.

Adapting instruction for students with special needs and learning differences requires moving away from one-size-fits-all strategies and tailoring the environment, pace, and tools to each learner's unique processing style. Here is how I adapt math instruction across different areas of special needs.
