About Louise

Learning should be dynamic, practical, and inspiring, a mindset I’ve lived throughout my career as a trainer, educational consultant, and broadcaster. From leading professional training sessions to homeschooling and tutoring neighborhood learners, I meet students right where they are with high energy and tailored mentorship. Grounded in Humanities, Early Childhood Development, and corporate leadership, I bring a unique blend of academic rigor and real-world flair to every session. I thrive on helping every learner unlock their full potential while keeping the process enjoyable.

Why Louise tutors

What drives my love for mentoring is the magic of being a facilitator rather than just a tutor. Instead of simply handing over answers for the next exam, I get to hand students the compass, light the match, and help them conquer the entire mountain. My work is informed by real-world experiences across broadcast journalism, corporate leadership, and off-grid living, allowing me to build an energetic environment where learning feels alive. I live for those moments when a student’s curiosity catches fire and they own their own progress, my ultimate reward is clearing the runway for their lifelong success.

A student Louise helped

When a Grade 1 spectrum learner joined my classroom struggling with severe retention hurdles and perfectionism-induced distress, I completely overhauled my teaching approach to better support the needs. I replaced rigid worksheets with interactive, gamified modules that used relatable stories and everyday household objects to bring Maths, English, Social Studies, History, and Public Speaking to life. By reframing mistakes as positive learning moments, I helped reduce cognitive overload and transformed their emotional relationship with academics. After three years of dedicated thrice-weekly sessions, this resilient student surged from far below grade benchmarks to achieving and maintaining a solid "A" average. Today, as my long-term student, the fear of complex challenges are a thing of the past and customized learning techniques are independently applied with confidence.

Outside tutoring

My life outside the classroom is all about high energy, great adventure, and continuous learning. I’m always game for a mountain trek, horseback riding, a deep-sea dive, or a quick game of softball, soccer, or volleyball with friends. When I’m off the field, I love feeding my mind with history, philosophy, classical epics, and a really good espionage thriller. Having a wide range of passions keeps me grounded, energized, and ready for whatever journey comes next.

Specializations

  • ADHD and attention difficultiesKeeps a session workable for a student who cannot hold focus through one.
  • Executive function and study skillsBuilds planning, organisation and study routines alongside the subject.
  • Working to an IEP or 504 planReads a documented accommodation plan and teaches to it.
  • Autistic studentsAdapts pace, structure and sensory load, and keeps a session predictable.

"The world is our classroom" is a belief I live by, rooted in three generations of Charlotte Mason educators in my family. Bringing over 35 years of experience, I am dedicated to inspiring both neurotypical and neurodiverse learners of all ages. Supporting spectrum learners requires me to continually adapt, learn, and apply responsive teaching methods in real time. Through this live, flexible approach, I meet each student's unique educational needs while growing alongside them. Ultimately, I strive to create an engaging, inclusive environment where every learner feels empowered to thrive.
