About Fel
Hi! I’m Fel Jhon, but you can call me Jhon. I’m an English and Math tutor with experience teaching learners from young children to adults, including students from different countries and learning backgrounds.
My teaching style is simple: I want students to feel comfortable learning with me. I don't want them to be afraid of making mistakes or feel embarrassed when they don't know an answer. I usually start by getting to know the student, then I observe how they think and learn before deciding how I can best help them.
During lessons, I like to keep students involved. Instead of doing all the talking, I ask questions, give them time to think, and guide them toward the answer. I believe students learn more when they can explain something in their own words and eventually solve a problem independently.
I’ve taught students with different personalities and learning styles. Some are very talkative, while others need a little more time before they feel comfortable participating. I enjoy finding that approach that makes each student feel, “I can actually do this.”

Why Fel tutors
I started tutoring because I genuinely enjoy working with students and seeing their progress. What keeps me going is seeing those small changes, when a student who was quiet starts answering confidently, or when someone says, “Oh, now I understand!”
For me, tutoring isn't only about getting the correct answer. It's also about helping students become more confident, curious, and willing to try again when something is difficult.

One of the things I’m most proud of is seeing students become more confident over time. I’ve worked with students who initially gave very short answers or would say, “I don’t know,” even when they actually had an idea.
By giving them time, asking the right questions, and celebrating their effort, I’ve seen them gradually become more willing to speak, answer questions, and explain their thinking.
For me, that is a meaningful achievement, not just because their academic performance improves, but because they start believing that they can learn and improve.

When I'm not teaching, I spend time studying and working toward my other goals. I’m also currently pursuing my journey in law, which keeps me busy but also gives me a lot of opportunities to learn.
I enjoy reading, learning new things, working on personal projects, and spending time with the people close to me. I’m naturally curious, so even outside teaching, I’m usually learning or working on something new.
Specializations
- Dyslexia and reading difficultiesWorks with students who decode slowly or avoid reading aloud.
- Dyscalculia and math difficultiesWorks with students who struggle with number sense and arithmetic.
- ADHD and attention difficultiesKeeps a session workable for a student who cannot hold focus through one.
- Working to an IEP or 504 planReads a documented accommodation plan and teaches to it.
I’ve taught students of different ages and learning levels, so I always adjust my approach based on the student.
For young learners, I use simple explanations, visuals, questions, and interactive activities. For older or advanced students, I focus more on reasoning, discussion, and challenging questions.
For shy or struggling students, I give them time to think and encourage them without pressure. I want every student to feel comfortable making mistakes and confident enough to try again.
My goal is simple: meet the student where they are and help them move forward.
