About Shubhra
I believe the best learning happens when a child feels comfortable enough to ask questions, make mistakes, and try again. My classes are structured, but never dull. I break difficult concepts into simple steps, use examples that children can relate to, and give students plenty of opportunities to practice what they learn. Depending on the child, that might mean working through a challenging Math problem, building reading comprehension in ELA, strengthening grammar, or simply developing the confidence to participate and speak up. I also believe that every child learns differently. Some students need more repetition, some need visual examples, and some simply need a little more time and encouragement. I adjust my teaching style accordingly rather than expecting every child to learn in the same way. Whether your child needs academic support, stronger foundations, extra practice, or more confidence in the classroom, my goal is to make every lesson purposeful, and leave them feeling like they learned something they can actually use.
Why Shubhra tutors
The best part of tutoring is seeing a child’s confidence change alongside their academics. I love those moments when a student finally understands something they’ve been struggling with and suddenly says, “Oh! Now I get it!” That moment is what makes every lesson worth it.

An achievement I am proud of---
One achievement I’m especially proud of is helping students make progress that goes beyond grades, it changes how they feel about learning.
I worked with a Grade 5 student who was struggling with basic multiplication, division, and other foundational Math skills and was receiving D grades. With consistent support and a learning approach tailored to her needs, she progressed to achieving A grades in her examinations.
I’ve also worked with a student who initially struggled significantly with reading and even had difficulty pronouncing basic words. After a year of consistent learning, his reading improved substantially, and he began achieving 70 to 80% range scores in ELA and reading assessments. He now takes both Math and ELA with me regularly.
Another achievement I value just as much is seeing a student who initially disliked ELA and reading begin to genuinely enjoy our classes. His parent even shared that he gets upset when a class is missed.
For me, success isn’t only about higher scores. It’s about helping a child build confidence, enjoy learning, and believe that they can improve.

Outside of tutoring, I’m someone who loves learning, staying active, and trying new things. I’m a big fitness enthusiast, I love going to the gym, lifting weights, and challenging myself physically. I also enjoy playing basketball whenever I get the chance. I love creating content and exploring new ideas, and I’m an avid reader, especially when it comes to self-development and self-help books. I’m currently pursuing my Master’s in English Linguistics while also learning more about marketing, so I
What parents say about Shubhra
What works really well for me is knowing that my child has a tutor that's invested in helping him become stronger in math that he once feared and would break down and cry. He is now tackling it head on, showing more confidence and taking the work more seriously.
5th grade math student's parent
Sebili does well when he feels supported and when expectations are explained clearly. At home, we're seeing good results when we talk through his choices and help him understand consequences. That approach is working well for us.
6th grade math student's parent
Ms. Shubhra works very well with my son. Her methods when teaching make it clear for my son to understand the lesson plan. Ms. Shubhra along with the lesson plan gives homework and goes over the homework with him. I especially love that I get a summary of how the session went and things that we as parents can work on with our child in terms of his academic plan and long-term goal.
